Summary:

After a disappointing runner-up finish in the 2018 WSOP $1500 bounty event, Ranno decided to make some changes—big ones.

Over the next two years, Ranno gave up smoking weed, he healed anger issues he learned from his family, and he completely revamped his mindset by working with Poker Mind Coach hypnotherapist Dan Heskett.

When Ranno found himself at the COLOSSUS event final table, he showed up prepared to go home with the bracelet.

In this episode, find out all about Ranno’s journey to land a huge WSOP win in 2020. He talks about becoming his own friend, releasing attachment to winning, and how hypnotherapy gave Ranno the confidence to take home this year’s bracelet at the COLOSSUS event.

3 Key Points

  1. Use your mistakes as opportunities for growth. Disappointed with the way he played the WSOP final table in 2018, Ranno decided to change his habits and lifestyle, which finally paid off two years later in the 2020 COLOSSUS event.
  2. There’s no such thing as a perfect session—even the most successful poker players in the world make mistakes every time they sit down at the tables! The thing that matters most is continually improving. Beating yourself up for mistakes is only going to sabotage your game further! Learn and move forward.
  3. Be grateful for the experience, even if you don’t win. Faced with a final table, Ranno chose to ditch the overconfidence, prepare himself mentally for any possible scenario, and just sit down at the table and play his best. He decided that he would be thankful for the opportunity to learn, no matter what.
