Technical poker skill is the foundation of any successful poker career.

You can meditate every day, eat the perfect diet, and be incredibly mentally tough in the face of the worst bad beats and downswings, but if your technical skills aren’t up to par, you won’t make it very far.

People are often surprised to hear me say this, given that I’m a “Mindset Coach,” but the truth is I’ve been preaching the importance of proper study since day 1.

When I first got started in the poker industry, a few months after Black Friday, many of my initial clients told me they did zero study, because:

“I already know everything there is to know about poker.”

Even back then, I was pushing my clients to put in at least 5-10 hours of study a week, and those who didn’t follow that advice quickly had the game pass them by.

Poker skill is a massive factor in determining your overall profitability, and it always will be.

This truth gave birth to a massive industry of poker books, video training sites, and private coaching.

The poker training industry is booming right now, with ambitious players spending millions of dollars each year to improve their skills.

Each year hundreds of new books are released, hundreds of hours of video training are created each month, powerful new software tools are becoming available on a regular basis, and many of the game’s elite are sharing their best strategies with their private clients.

There has never been such a wealth of high-quality poker content readily available for those looking to become successful at this game.

Yet, so many players still struggle to achieve the success they desire in the game.

Why is this?

I have my answer, but I’d like to hear from you first.
