Since winning the 2011 $50,000 WSOP Player’s Championship for $1,720,328, Brian Rast has been a staple in the biggest live MTTs and cash games in the world.
He’s played the $1,000,000 buy-in Big One For One Drop, where he placed 6th for 1,621,333, and has been known to play as high as $2,000/$4,000 NLHE/PLO cash game in Macau and Las Vegas.
He was born in Colorado but grew up in Poway California, where he was valedictorian of his high school class. He attended Stanford University and was first introduced to poker there.
Rast started at low stakes LHE but quickly moved on to small stakes NLHE cash games, where he began to grow his bankroll. He turned pro once he accumulated a $100,000 bankroll, a number he believed was the minimum needed to play full time.
His big break came at the 2011 WSOP where he won two bracelets; the $1,500 Pot Limit Hold’em for $227,232 and the $50,000 Player’s Championship for $1,720,328. Those wins propelled him into more high-roller MTTs, where he has amassed over $8,000,000 in lifetime earnings.
He can still be found grinding huge cash games and WSOP tournaments, as well as working on his new poker mentoring venture Zen Poker Training.
