Hi, I'm Elliot Roe...
And I Help Poker Players Squeeze Every Ounce Of EV From Their Poker Skills and Abilities.
Over 7500 poker players have downloaded my Mindset MP3s to boost their focus on the table and to relax and recover post-session.
I have personally worked with hundreds more on mastering their emotions and the tabling and developing the “Pro-Athlete Mindset” needed to be successful into today’s games.
Creating a strong poker mindset has been the “secret weapon” of the high stakes elite for years now, and I started this site to bring that edge to any player willing to work on that area of their game.
Why Is Mindset So Important?
The game of poker evolves at a rapid pace. The worst player in your game today likely would have crushed the games of 2005 and been considered a top pro.
As the gaps in technical edges tighten the importance of having a mental edge increases.
For example, some of the ultra high stakes live cash game players I work with tell me tell me their technical edge is marginal when the game starts. However, as the session drags on their opponents become tired, unfocused, and tilted and that’s when they start printing money.
The edge gets compounded at lower stakes where you can have both a significant technical and mental advantage over your competition.
My prediction is that players who don’t seriously focus on improving their mental game will no longer be able to make a living from poker in the next two years.
Here’s a Bit More About Me
In addition to working with poker players, I’ve also coached UFC champions, Olympians, golfers, and financial professionals.
I’ve found that there is one common thing holding them all back from performing their best…
It might be…
- Fear of trying hard and failing
- Fear that they don’t deserve success
- Fear that if they are successful, they still won’t be fulfilled
- Fear caused by uncertainty
- And many more
In fact, my story of fear is what started me on the path to becoming a mindset coach.
In my early 20s, I had a group of friends who loved to travel.
We started off doing short weekend holidays, but soon every wanted to experience the world.
Everyone except me that is. It’s not that I didn’t want to go to places like South America, the USA, or Thailand or anywhere long haul…I had a huge fear of flying.
Not only did I miss some amazing experiences, I also felt stupid and embarrassed knowing that it was fear holding me back. Eventually, enough was enough, and I decided I had to find a way to eliminate this fear for good.
That’s when a friend recommended hypnotherapy.I was completely skeptical that hypnosis could help me, and the only reason I even went to the sessions was that I promised this person I would try it. The first thing I remember about the session was feeling very relaxed.
The hypnotherapist started to take me back to memories I associated with flying.
After a bit of digging, we finally came upon the memory that was the root of my fear of flying. I was a young boy, maybe 4 years old, sitting with my Mother. We were looking at photographs and came across one of an old looking airplane. I was curious about the plane and could sense a tension in my mother’s voice.
She told me that it was a plane once owned by my grandfather’s company. The plane had a freak accident and crashed, killing my grandfather’s business partner. The story was too much for a 4-year-old boy to handle, and it was at this point that I convinced myself that flying = bad.
Now that we knew the root cause we were quickly able to work through the memory and resolve the fear. I walked out of her office, and my irrational fear of flying was gone, never to return. I finally had the freedom to travel the world (fortunate as I’ve ended up living in the US) without anxiety and stress.
After a number of stress free flights I signed up for hypnotherapy training. It had such a huge impact on my life, and I was compelled to pay it forward. Seeing others achieve their maximum potential has always been a passion of mine, and I’ve worked hard to become the mental game coach that both elite poker players and high-level athletes trust to improve their mindset.
